Right now I don't spray at all, prints from pigment ink printers shouldn't need it unless they are going to be traveling and need some protection from being scratched. When I choose a paper I want to use the paper's surface, not a surface from a spray. In the past I have killed a few brain cells with Premeir and Bulldog spray, have to use a well ventilated area, which can be hard to find in the north east US in winter. Switched to a HPLV spray gun on a compressor and water based coatings. But I prefer to see the paper.

PremierArt Print Shield is what I use, too. It really protects the surface. I'd never give out a print without it.

I agree with Tom, no spray needed unless printing on a surface like canvas that will not be protected with glass.

I think jerryrock said the thing that hadn't been said yet.

A print needs protection, not just against UV but also against airborne contaminants and just plain dust. If not glass/acrylic, then at least a spray or other coating.

I'm uncomfortable about inkjet prints in albums. I've seen a lot of abrasion damage over time with those, although they were uncoated prints of some time ago. Personally, I still go with commercial Endura prints for albums.

Depends on the album construction, if it has good paper I wouldn't, or if there is a cover I wouldn't, again because for what good paper costs I want my client to see it. If the album is on run of the mill paper with no cover, I may spray. For small jobs Premier or Bulldog spray work well.

IMO PremierArt Print Shield removes any irregularities and the surface becomes even more homogeny and beautiful, without changing the appearance at all. (Yes I know, it sound contradicting, but try it and apply three layers). The gloss differential also improves.

I only apply it on my fine-art prints, not on my normal hand-outs.
