Does anyone here use a tripod dolly. I used to have one years ago, but since I mainly shot still lifes, I didn't need it, so I sold it. Now I'm wondering if it would come in handy for shooting people in a studio. I would love to find a small(6') mono stand with casters, but they all range from hundreds to thousands of dollars. I like using a tripod for shooting people, so I was even thinking of seeing if the hardware store has casters that would work on my tripod. Has anyone tried anything like this, or do any of you know of an inexpensive mono-stand? Thanks.
Mono equals unstable. More stable would be a tripod dolly but personally, I'd go with no dolly cause the darn things are a pain to deal with; wadda you do with the stupid thing when not being used besides scoot them to the side or lean up against the wall?
For me, I found them to be convenient up to the point of having to lock the casters and at that moment, they became a PITA. Yokes!

There is a fellow who posts quite a bit over on the lighting forum under the handle CGardner. He apparently uses something that might be of interest to you - a collapsible IV stand (medical equipment) which is mounted on a five-wheeled star. It costs under $50. You can find it here - http://www.med-worldwide.com/product2509.html . Do a search for his posts over on lighting and you'll see this item discussed.
