p.1 #5 · Safari Recommendations???? | |
Hi Gary,
There are many things that have to be considered when going on Safaris and the cost can vary greatly. Those especially geared for photography where there are no more than three people per vehicle can run over $10,000.00 for a two week trip with visits to 3 or 4 parks. Meals and accomodations are for the most part included in this figure.
The time of year and the part of Africa you go to can have a big effect on the cost. Accomodation cost can vary greatly depending on the type you want. there are the Fancy lodges and Luxury tented camps all the way down to the pretty rough campgrounds. Experienced and knowledgeable guides can make the trip and the type vehicles used can determine your ability to get in certain areas.
For 2008 we will have a terriffic cost increase because of the devaluation of the dollar, increased fuel cost (On all safaris you spend most of your time in the vehicles) Increase in Airline tickets, plus a notice from the airline for a fuel surcharge fee depending on additional rise in fuel cost before your trip.
Passport, Visas and Imminuzations are also cost that you will have to consider.
You want to have a safe and fun filled experince at a fair price. If you will email me I can give you a general price from Atlanta but not from CA. We are fully booked for 2008 with several reserves to fill in for anyone backing out and I think you may find this normal. We always go in May and June just after the long rains.
Grant
