Leon,

Are these pictures cropped at all?
Just wondering, since I was trying to take some photos of a flower with my Rokkor 58 but the minimum focus distance kept me from getting this close to fill the screen with this size subject like a flower or a leaf.
What is the minimum focus distance for this lens?

Min focusing distance is 0.6m, most of my shots were not cropped, because I normally take as much as 3mins just to frame and focus properly.

Even if some were cropped, only the edges would have been slightly cut off for framing correction purpose. So I guess for those, at least 80% of the original would have remained.

I am seeing some curvature distortion of the verticals of the building but the wall of this house taken with the Sigma 14mm f3.4 are perfectly vertical...I checked them with a ruler in PS!:

The first two are Rokkor 58 1DS3 at 1.2.

The last one is Leica 100 2.8 APO at 2.8

These two are Leica 100 2.8 APO.
The 2nd one is also using the Leica ElPro 1.2:1.1 converter.

couldn't have been me, unfortunately, as I have never touched a Zeiss anniversary lens. something to dream about.

Koji has the 55/1.2 and we sort of half-planned to do some comparison shooting here in Toronto last spring, but I dropped the ball on it due to too much other stuff going on.

Koji, what do you think? Should we try to aim for an autumn shootout?

(In the meantime, check out Koji's 55/1.2 gallery http://www.pbase.com/kkawakami/planar_55mm_f12 )

Sort of alternative. These were taken today with the Sigma 150 macro:

I always smile when I see "Jahre" posted with the Carl Zeiss lenses. As a German speaker (not native, but fairly decent), it's just odd to see "Years" posted in a link.

Those big-ticket E-bay items make me chuckle. A superb lens for sure,
but these prices reflect the collectors market in action.
Did anyone else note the buy-it-now prices on some of the Leica
kits ($50,000 and up)?

Every hobby/obsession has the diminishing returns phenomenon:
pay 10x more for 10% quality improvement. High-end audio comes to mind.

Wow Cogitech, nice shots of a beautiful place!

Foto-z I love your commercial stuff, very well executed

Here's a shot with the zui 24, again. Its part of a set I'm doing called "Little People". Its shot behind the dirty glass of a train.
