Partial 3-shot pano, swiveled, not shifted, landscape format.

5D2, 17 TS-E + 1.4XII Extender (~24mm). My first attempts with this combination was today. Seems to work well enough. A-B comparisons will be shown on my 17 TS-E thread in Canon forum.

They're weird-looking, huge & super performing lenses with manual focus. Things dont get much more alt than that :-)

Sure they do, if they don't say Canon on them

I looked for the non-Canon version, and was unable to find it! Seems in this area, Canon reigns as "Alt-iest".

I challenge anyone to find an Alt-ier UWA lens in functionality and performance (in DSLR, see below) than this.

Although, I have to say that thrice is in the same ballpark (JK!). As they say in Australia, "THIS is a knife!" Nice work, thrice! Is the waterfall shot in Australia, or the Pacific Northwest?

Samyang 85/1.4, wide open.

When I'm having a dull day, I go visit these folks.

Featuring gratuitously shallow DOF.

No correction of vignetting or CA, only sharpening, exposure, and contrast types of settings (LR4).

Yea unfortunately options for alt TS lens are close to zero. Only somewhat comparable option is Mirex and Im not sure, but there really isnt much 24mm medium format lens. Probably only fisheyes.

I think Canon TS-E lens are closer to alt, probably as very unique MP-E macro. I dont know how much TS-E lens Canon sells but its probably quite low number cause I see pics from them only on very rare occasions. Most Canon users prefer to shoot even zooms for landscapes..

Are these friends/family?

I'm not having a go at you, just a comment, but it's generally not good form to show headstones of total strangers (if they are). I personally wouldn't be offended, but every time I've shot at a cemetery I've been asked by 'management' not to show tomb stone details if at all possible. I think this is purely out of respect to the families who wouldn't want images showing up some where by surprise. Again, I'm not having a go at you, just commenting in case you've never come across this, and maybe it's not an issue in your neck of the woods either.

John -- Thanks for your remarks.

Perhaps it is a cultural taboo in some parts of the world. But here, if it is in open public display, it's fair game (possibly barring commercial use without permission). I'm sure there could be a problem if some slanderous or libelous inference were made, but otherwise the details are all part of the public record.

In other words, no one has directed me to stop or shown me legal reason not to record grave markings.

I find it interesting to record how people publicly memorialize those they've loved and lost. That's certainly a diverse and touching cultural imperative among humans. I'm more attuned to the method of decoration than the identity of the deceased.

Taking the photos might be considered in poor taste, but I'm seldom referred to as Mr. Manners.
