Ahhhh ... persistence, the cornerstone of excellence.

Keep at it, I remember getting the advise that a good tripod should be your first 'second lens' ... (or something close to that) about 30 years ago ... I actually listened to to that one

Paul, I love the contrast of vibrant colours and gray forest in the second one.

Here are a couple of shots from my newly acquired EF mount CV 40/2, I must say I like it even better than the adapted Nikon version I previously had. The second is for this week's WA.

I also like the train line picture, that ZF sure draws a clear picture.

Thanks! I really didn't think of it in that way.

Sebboh,

Are all those shots stitched pano's which were then cropped?
If so what stitching software did you use?

only #2 and #4 were cropped panoramas. those were stitched in photoshop then sent back to lightroom for cropping and additional processing. #1 and #3 are single exposures uncropped except for aspect ratio modification and leveling the horizon.

here is the original panorama for #2 (the b&w crop is actually a little smaller than a single frame would have been in the vertical dimension)

Wow those panorama's are as stunning as the individual shots, and I'm sure they'd look amazing printed and hanging on the wall!

Thanks Sebboh for posting those excellent pano's too.
#1 seems like a wider AOV than 105mm. But maybe its just me.
Sorry, one more question :
Did you use a polarizer on #4 but not #2?

actually the field of view on #1 is actually 210mm since it was taken on 4/3 camera. focus is at infinity taken from a moving car.

no polarizer in either. #2 is the nikkor 105mm and #4 is the canon FL 55mm. i need to process the full sized pano from #4 a bit to get color right across the pano. it looks good to me in the center but gets way too blue on either edge (i did some extra processing to the crop #4). not sure if that is because of the huge angle of view (roughly 180°) covered or due to different lighting at different sides of the storm.

Here in Iceland we got volcanic eruption at the moment. The eruption is located directly over Iceland's most popular hiking trail between the two glaciers Eyjafjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökull. The trail is dangerous during the winter but this weekend the weather was nice (sunny, a bit windy and -20°C). I took the 33km hike last Saturday amongst 5000 other people to see the eruption.

The statue, by Coysevox I think, sits in the park of what one was the royal castle of Marly le Roi. Louis XIV, the Sun King, wanted an "intimate" alternative to Versailles, where he could be with just a small cadre of hand-picked guests. So he had a small (1400m², or 15000 sq. ft.) castle built, plus 12 guest pavillions. The place was dismembered during the Napoleonic years to recover the stones , but the park and statues remain. Which is why we have this strange perspective, because the castle should have been in the middle of it...
