For "not liking" the M8, you are sure putting up some fantastic shots with it.

Since you seem to do that with any lens and any camera body, it makes it hard to take seriously that those items have anything to do with the results.

From now on, please use only an old glass Coke bottle (preferably cracked) and a cardboard pinhole camera set up. The rest of us need to regain some self esteem.

The overall quality is high, but my favorite is number 6 (which looks a little underexposed though).

Some very nice recent shots everyone!

Here's a couple "behind the scenes" at a Strobist get together.

Thanks! I have an hour or two each day, clearing my head walking between meetings or writing sessions where I am able to fire off some shots. But this will end as soon as my writing period is over and production starts...

I have been using the MP-E65 alot so I have been in the macro forum most of the time last month.

Grabbed a few shots of butterflies with my zuikos. 18/3.5 and 135/4.5.

Yes, I was wondering why you had taken some time away from us Fantastic shots with the 18! The last one is of course really stunning, but I am so impressed with that kind of UWA use

Andreas,
Great closeup of the butterfly with the Zuiko 135!
Was just using mine the other day on some Alstromerium flowers.
Also like the first wide shot with the 18, nice sharp close focusing!

(I borrowed this old thing, an old nikkor, put some of my AI-lenses on it and had a blast :P I just _love_ the focusing screen on those old buggers).

Thank you André and Wayne. I knew that the 135 works great with butterflies but the 18 did a pretty good job too...

Here is some of the macro work I have been working on over the last couple of months:

My god, what ugly beasts - I couldn´t even open some of these....Woo... But great shots! MP-65... Do you shoot these monsters simply because you are interested or because of some assignment, someone asked you to?

Shooting insects is interesting since the look alot different that what the eye can see. The shooting is very challenging since most are very skittish. Geting good diffuced light is another challenge.

Thanks for looking.

To break up all the amazing macro, portrait and street shots people have been posting, here's a seascape:

Quite annoyed at myself, I thought I'd try my full size cokin holder (since it doesn't vignette with my 19mm Elmarit) instead of my wide angle holder but upon reviewing the shots it seems that having the graduated filter further away from the lens introduced a bit of a band from the light source. Well, lesson learnt and in this case I was able to hide it quite well with a vignette in PP.

Nikon d700 + 105 2.5 ai-s:
Had a band-photoshoot (all alternative glass :P ) today, I'll post a few of those later I guess, but this guy kept walking around, and I loved his face, so had to ask if I could get a shot, and indeed I could!

Just amazing. How do you get them to stay there for you while you compose the shots, especially with the lens so close to them?

Does the top bee in this picture have damaged eye(s)? First time I ever see such a thing. Amazing.

Andreas,

Incredible macro shots!
The "Hang i" and "mates" ones are my favorites.
Looks like you are have mastered your new MP-E 65 lens very well.
Like the diffused lighting in alot of the shots. I need to work on getting/making a better diffuser for my Canon flash. Probably need the macro flash first though.
Love seeing the detail of these critters which we normally can't see with our eyes.
Thanks for sharing.

Thank you! It has a damaged eye. It is even more visible if you klick on it for the third enlargement.

You have too learn their behaviour and then have loads of patience. Shoot in the mornings or evenings when they are cold and tired. After rain is another great time. The two hover flies were mating and sat still for a long time. What is most important is good light with diffusion. Twin head macro flash is my pick. I have been working alot with diffusion the last couple of weeks :http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/795433/0

Glad you like it.
