Hi,
Just got my new 5d. Shot a few and opened in DPP 3.0. Great color, Made a few adjustments to sharpness and WB then transfed to PS.
BUT,
When I transfer to Photoshop (Alt P) there is a color shift. Subtle but definitely there. Both are set to 16 bit and RGB (not s) colospace.

If I open the same pic in Adobe Bridge then make the similar changes and open in PS, there is not a color shift..

Why does the Adobe Bridge generated image look different from the DPP generated image and why doesn't the DPP image transfer accurately to PS?

And, when I print from DPP with aplication managed colors, the print matches the DPP hues. When I print from PS with app man colors the print matches the Photoshop.hues.

I like the DPP image better and want to get the look of the DPP 3.0 image into PS for other work (sizing, etc.). Haven't tried DPP 3.2 yet.

Are you aware that PS uses the system default monitor profile whereas DPP uses a specifically nominated monitor profile ? If you update the default profile then PS uses the new one but DPP still uses the old one. Both approaches have merit but they are different.

The same may apply to printer profiles.

Also, the two applications may have different printer profile intents.

16-bit output implies but does necessarily mean that you were you using raw files. Transferring a converted tiff file from one application to the other should give you the same colours in each one if the application and system colour management settings match. If you transferred the raw files then you introduce a new variable in the form of the raw converter. Things can then be different.

I can understand why the two applications might show you different colours, and even why they would print different colours from the same colour space and image file if the printer profiles or intents were different. I cannot understand why each application would cause screen and print images to match within the application but not between applications. It seems so unlikely that a mismatch of printer settings should match a mismatch of monitor settings.

Indeed, make sure that DPP is using the monitor profile. It comes with sRGP as default so if haven't changed it it might explain the color shift.

Thank you thank you,Problem solved by assigning the (calibrated) default monitor profile and (calibrated) printer profile to DPP. Now both programs use the same profiles and they match!
I had assumed that DPP would use the default system profiles. Silly me!

There are three options under Preferences in DPP 3.2. You can choose a specific profile or choose to allow DPP to use the OS profile. I use that option, and when I re-profile DPP choses the current one.
