Now you've got it just right. This is an awesome concept and great shot. I've tried taking a photo of my eye, it's a real bitch.

My wife wanted to take a picture of me taking a picture of my eye as she said i was obsessed !
My Method was to sit in a chair. Beside chair was a step ladder. At eye height a spirit level was attached poking out over the chair. Macro focus was on end of spirit level above chair. I then sat in chair, spirit level at eye height and to bridge of nose. Remotely triggered shutter. Adjusted focus and reshot.
So if anyone wants to do this i know this will work.
