p.1 #1 · NTSC or PAL?


Hi, i just bought a point & shoot camera that has the movie feature, with this movie feature i can record in PAL or NTSC, what are the differences in the two modes and is one better than the other in regard to image quality ect.

Use NTSC, it's the N. American standard. PAL is the European and other areas standard.

if you are using and indend to use it on US TV systems you will use NTSC. if you shoot PAL you will need to convert it.

NTSC is the video system or standard used in North America and most of South America. In NTSC, 30 frames are transmitted each second. Each frame is made up of 525 individual scan lines.

PAL is the predominant video system or standard mostly used overseas. In PAL, 25 frames are transmitted each second. Each frame is made up of 625 individual scan lines.

the video mode is for output only. it has no effect on recording on a P&S digicam.
