p.1 #1 · QTOP problem

I bought this expensive German thing a few years ago, and now I find myself unable to separate the on-camera part from the tripod part. There is a big button on one side and a little one on the other, but pressing them does nothing more than loosen the camera side.

Anybody know how this thing works?

Um...what?

Youll need to post more of a description. I dont even really know what your talking about what what QTOP stands for. Im assuming its a head for a tripod. Do you have a picture?

Heh... I used to have one of those

Press the little button first, then the big button... HARD... the camera plate should release from the QR base. If it doesn't, you have a problem... that's the only way to separate the two parts

Personally, I would suggest ditching that thing in favor of some Arca-Swiss plates and a good dovetail clamp. That's what I did a couple years back and I don't regret it for a second... there's just too much slop in the connection between the base and the head of the QTOP... your camera is gonna move around when it's in vertical orientation, guaranteed.
