p.1 #1 · Camera Raw from CS3

Several months ago someone posted instructions for bring up Camera Raw while already in CS3. I haven't been clever enough in my searching to find it. Would somebody please tell me how. Sometimes I'm processing an image in CS3 and want to use Camera Raw to adjust something and I have to close it and go back to Bridge. That's a drag. Dick

You first have to open the image in Photoshop CS3 as a Smart Object. The command is available in the menu bar as File > Open as Smart Object. Double clicking the thumbnail then opens Camera Raw allowing you to flip back and forth between ACR and Photoshop.

Alternatively, you can open an image in ACR and do your intial edits. Then instead of clicking the Close or Open buttons, hold down the CTRL key and the Open button changes to Open Object which when clicked will open your image in Photoshop as a Smart Object.

Not sure, but I believe you have to open a raw file in ACR and, from their, open it in PS as a smart object. If you open a jpeg, for example, as a smart object directly from PS ("Open as smart object"), double clicking it won't open it in camera raw.
