I have an opportunity to get a number of series 9 filters, adapters and holders for a good price. I'm mainly interested in the cp and nd filters even though there are others. Anyone have any pros or cons for using them on my 40D?
Thanx,
Ron
I see no one has responded so I will share my very limited Tiffen experience. I don't know the series 9 filters, but did buy a Tiffen screw-in 2 stop ND filter. The quality compared to the Hoya and B&W filters I normally use is quite poor. It was cheaper but, based on observation only, the results were not as good as better quality filters. As well, the build quality is not up to the same level either.
A wise decision, I suspect. As the old adage says, you get what you pay for. Putting a cheap filter on the front of good glass doesn't make sense to me either.
If you think you do want to use series 9 filters in the future, there are other brands and types that you might find useful. Harrison and Harrison makes Series 9, or at least did, as I purchased a number of them from Ebay. H&H make filters for the motion picture industry and is located in Hollywood, CA.
I haven't used my series 9 filters yet in that many of the effects (fog and diffusion) can be done via Photoshop.
