Hello!

I've been lurking for a long time... before I got my XTI I used to troll the buy and sell forum for good deals! :^)

The following picture is a bit photography, post processing and ps work... the forest pic I took myself and edited... it was a lovely shot, but I felt it was so enchanting it needed a nymph! So, with the use of some stock photography, I added one in! Please feel free to tear my work apart, as I m always trying to learn and improve!

WOW... hmmm, I don't even know how to respond to THAT. I don't know whether Don is being silly, or just plain rude... so hard to tell in type... BUT - Nymphs were actually a spiritual being associated with a specific natural place... such as woods, or a spring... Dryads were known to be small, but other nymphs are represented in classical paintings as being of the normal female size, as seen here:

http://www.jolyonpatten.com/wordpress/wp-content/satyr.jpg

IF on the other hand, the comment was that my woman is too big... well, I felt that a classic nymph, especially as seen in classic paintings, was curvy, rather than waif like. Nymphs were considered latently sexual, filled with fertility and desire.... Women were usually portrayed as such with full hips and figure... Hence, my woman (who is smaller than me, I might add) is of no way or how too LARGE to be a nymph... again, I really am sort of dumbfounded at having to clarify and defend this... Seems like an odd thing to point out rather than asking about the actual image or photoshop techniques...

thats the FM forums cammy...you'll find that throughout....
If not shooting top notch gallery shots then you won't get a whole heck of a lot of responses.
I don't know if its all meant to be rude but might be due the fact their level of expertise is so much higher.....go through and look at the long threads and tehn the short ones..you'll see a trend for sure.....
I just stop in here for the inspiration. Some truly Great photographers and artists in here, just wish their social skills were a bit better.
Like I said not sure if Don's a jerk or a joker but most likely will never know.

Thanks Lazlo, I'll try that...
And Brad - Thanks to you too! I agree that the level of expertise is really high here, but is actually one of the reasons I would love to become a regular here... I think that knowledge is like great wine... best when shared with friends!

I agree cammy, the only problem is it seems most of them here were not taught sharing as kids...!
I thought the same thing the second larger faint nymph makes me think more of a perfume ad or something along those lines.....still lovely shot and the actual original of the forest alone is great!

Cammy, welcome aboard. I love the original shot without the nymph, so if I was to add a nymph, she would be farther off in the distance. It would be as if I was walking in these enchanted woods, and I thought I saw a nymph, but I'm not quite sure.

Jon

I looked at the original shot again, and I would put the nymph back in the shaft of light, off in the distance. I would try different opacities and see if I liked a solid figure, or one more dreamlike.

I like the shot and would agree with Lazlo. Try it without the faded second image.
Looks very nice though.
