p.1 #1 · Camera Strap for Canon 40D

Almost lost my 40D when the Canon camera strap that came with the camera came loose at the one end even though I had it strung properly. Question...is there a better camera strap out there besides the Canon issued one?

That's what I use as well. Here's a link to an old thread on Domke Gripper straps. I'll bet it's the same thread that convinced Jim to give them a try in the first place (although he did pose the question) - it's pretty clear what he thinks about them now (me too).

I like the Think Tank straps too, they're similar to the domke's.

I used an Op/Tech for a long time before moving to a Camdapter handstrap. If I still used a neck strap I'd definitely still be using the Op/Tech. I used mine on a Nikon D70 and despite the D70's relatively light weight (compared to the 5D I use now), the OEM strap used to kill my neck, but switching to the Op/Tech relieved the neck pressure considerably.

That's the strap I use and love it I also use it with the camdapter

Yup, like Mike, I've got the Op/Tech and the Camdapter on together, and a Kirk L-plate, too. Seems like a lot of stuff (40D), but for me it works great, and since the Op/Tech has the quick release ends, most of the strap can be easily removed.

Have to agree but I most of the time carry my camera with my hand in the strap holding the grip. If I am out for some time i will use the next strap

I use and recommend the OpTech Pro strap, it is comfortable for long periods of time and I like to be able to disconnect the neckstrap part when I am using the 500mm. I always have a handstrap on.

I also use the OpTech Pro Strap with the Proloops. Can't come undone from the camera, and they're very comfy.

Anything can break. They're Nylon webbing as far as I can tell. Don't worry about it, many, many of us here use them and I have yet to read a single account of one breaking ever (cue the lurker who's had one break now...). If you hadn't guessed, I also use & love the Op/Tech Pro Loop strap.

The links provided only go to B&H home page. I have the classic and love it. I tried the larger pro version but found it was way over kill for my gear
