Flash tube life is usually measured in terms of mean time between fumble-fingered drops onto the floor. Non-vertically challenged flash tubes generally last between 250,000 and 500,000 flashes, and life expectancy would depending more on how frequently they are fired and how well they are cooled than brand. Relative replacement cost for having a set of spare tubes would probably be more important decision factor than relative lifespan.

Broncolor used to have a 5 year pro-rated replacement (like tires) on their tubes. In a catalog situation that might easily come to 500,000 pops.

But the tubes are $450 to begin with, so you can probably replace most other brands a couple of times for the cost of a Bron (or Profoto) tube.

Best,
Michael

Some tubes are user replaceable, some are not. That's probably more of a consideration than life span, for the reason Chuck points out. Although I suspect both are user replaceable.

Good luck.

I know my Profotos are over 100,000 pops and I have not had to replace one yet . Also watch modeling light sage as they add extra heat to the mix and could shorten life .

Thanks everyone for this info,
we where talking with a Hensel vendor, and he said its only 1000 shots and then need replacement, maybe he really don't understand what is he saying.

No, he must not. That is one 6 hour fashion shoot the way I work.

I never say "no" when a model gets into a pose, I say "good" or whatever, snap the shot so she knows to move on, then guide her to improve it.

Even if it is not good, keeps the flow going better than ever saying "no". Digital is cheap, that is what editing is for.

Best,
Michael
