Here's a couple of coots from the CF yesterday. There were also hooded mergansers, buffleheads and wood ducks around, but too far off for my 400 and 1.4x.

Great job on a bird that's a real tough exposure (At least for me ) Black feathers and Bright Bill = exposure disaster IMHO You've done a great job here and the well focused sharp eyes of 1 and 2 really make the shots.

Great shots Herb! #1 and #3 are my favourites! Very sharp and the reflection is lovely!
Anthony, I always find metering the exposure from nearby grass or even another bird which isn't black or white helps to get the best exposed shots of Coots.
