Sadly all of Guy's comments, and presumably his account, seem to have disappeared. Jack Flesher's too which is as great a shame. Variety of opinion is good. However, every cloud has a silver lining, and in this case the deletion of those comments illustrates the nature of the TP bug. Guy posted many times on the M8 big prints thread, whose last page now appears to be many pages beyond the last comment. Clearly, either...

1) the db is recording how many pages are on each thread, but failing to update that number correctly when posts are deleted

or

2) code which counts the number of posts in a thread is miscounting by including posts which are hidden/inactive/deprecated

The solution to this is almost certainly a one-liner, and Fred looks like he will be arranging to fix this shortly.

I have uploaded a few images taken with my C/Y 35-70 f3.4 and 5D to my portfolio . I am very impressed with sharpness of this lens for landscapes, although I don't think I'd shoot with it into a strong light source. I also had a 21mm Distagon on the trip, but didn't get to use it much.

Why do you say this, Chris?

The 35-70 is my main night architectural photography lens, and its ability to tame extreme point sources of bright lights (lamp posts, streetlights, etc.) is among the best of the lenses I've used. Beats the Leica 35-70/4 easily.

Here's an example. It doesn't get any better (or rather worse) than this. I'm about 10m from that lamp post.

Richard,
Are you sure this is the right combination, Hasselbad 501 and Zeiss Planar 2.0/110?

Well spotted Son - just a little joke as you'll see if you look at the EXIF ;-)

It's actually a 1D3 with Contax 35 f1.4. The only true bit was 800 iso. I just thought it looked like the results I used to get in the old days so thought it would be fun to see how long it took before someone smelt a rat. You were damn quick, which doesn't surprise me because your knowledge is exceptional. Actually, I'd be curious to know what alerted you to my little fib.

Cheers!

;-)

Hi Victor, thank you. Yes stitching can be fun, particlularly if one has a nice, light camera to make handheld images (hardly any of my panos are taken with tripod these days) and a nice, easy program that stitches well. All I have to do then is find (see) suitable subjects, and that's where the real fun and challenge lie.

Recently I've only used PTGui and most of the time it makes near perfect panos. But I just threw a sweep of 24 1DsII Tiff files at it that didn't come out too well, I'm working on that..
