p.1 #1 · Sandhills del Apache

Some from my trip to Bosque del Apache. It is everything that everyone said it would be and more. I took close to 4000 shots and got at least 10 good ones

1. The sun prepares to rise over the Bosque del Apache

2. A distant harrier glides through a fall setting in the Bosque del Apache

3. They got GBH out at Bosque and they sometimes fly close

4. Three Sandhill Cranes fly-out for the morning

5. Sandhill Crane signalling that it is about to take off. The stretched out neck is a sure sign...

6. Sandhill Crane negotiating a landing over a corn field

Nice series. That first twin takeoff is one sweet shot and the landing shot is great. They always seem like they're going to crash on landing don't they?

Wonderful series Ken! You sure took advantage of that golden morning light. Favorites are 6, 8 and 9......and 10, was this one domesticated or did you find him in the wild?

Hi Ken! I am so, so jealous! These are beautiful shots, and I am so glad you enjoyed your time there.
My favorite is the first twin takeoff. Awesome light.
Someday, I will get there too!

Great "Bosque Tour", Mr Hollywood! You've really captured the spirit of the place,
the lighting, and some wild things that go bump in the night. Thanks!

(Just hope you didn't scare off anyone on the fence about making the trip, Ken)

Ken, All nice shots! I am sure you got more that 10 good shots -- it will be nice to see more. I was down there this past Thursday and pressed the button too many times myself. The colors are beautiful and the birds are continuing to arrive. I do wonder if Will puts on the red suit for Christmas. Steve W

HI Dave,

The Bosque is a bird photographer's dream land at this time of year. The fall colors and the near endless flights of birds actually provide almost too much action to try to keep up with. I got to talk you and Steve W. into meeting with me out there one of these days. We'd have a blast!

With regards to the Monkey; There can be only one

Ken

HI Moses,

I was intrigued by their running take-offs but the landings are almost scarry to watch I've got a few more take-off shots I need to process but these were some of the best early morning ones I got.

Thanks Tobias,

It is definately different than most places I get to shoot around here in Southern California that for sure. Not a freeway in sight. Personally, I think the Bearded Tamarin is much better looking than the type of monkey I shot out at Bosque
