Hi Tom,
Years ago when I lived in Maine, I would explore old barns when hunting at my fathers camp. Your entry is so real in my mind and brings back memories of a view I would often see looking from the inside of one of the barns. Well shot!
Best of luck,
Tom
Thanks Tom...This photo has an alternate name, 'Lucy's Window'. This is in my barn, specifically above my 12 year old boxer, Lucy's bed. Lucy died unexpectedly last week so this is a tribute shot to her. This is why I appreciated your shot this week so much. Thanks for your comment.
Beautifully desolate Tom, I like the B&W, the hint of outside in the glass, and the cobweb touching the jar. It's a nicely framed image of a nicely framed scene
Tom, I'm so so sorry to hear about Lucy. My heart feels your loss, my friend.
Your image is wonderful. The detail with the cob webs, and dust, and the lone empty jar surrounded by light. Your heart must feel empty without your companion, but full of the light of her memory.
I think this captures that feeling perfectly, and makes an elegant tribute to Lucy.
Thank you all for your kind comments. I am glad Lucy didn't suffer or have a prolonged illness which led to her death, she was in good spirits and active until a day before she died. The day before I went to find her, she was in her bed under her heat lamp and wouldn't come to me. When I went to her she responded to my touch then followed m to the door but wouldn't come any farther. I believe animals know when their end is near. I have noticed nearly the same type of behavior from cats who ultimately died shortly after.
Life and death on the farm is a little different than in other places. For instance we currently have 14 outdoor farm cats. We know that by winter's end we will be lucky to have half of them left. We always vaccinate them for destimper(sp) but the road will claim some, coyotes, hawks, owls will claim some and some will just disappear. But the loss of a dog is still painful. It doesn't feel right to go feed our other animals and not see Lucy...RIP my friend.
Tom, beautiful shot and so poignant, especially when I read the alternate name. My heartfelt sympathies over your loss. I have two precious little bichons who have their window. All the best, and congrats on being a finalist.
