In technical terms is say, holly crap! Great entry and what feeling it communicates.

@andreaplanet: Without the light, the gloves would not be lit in such a great 3D way from behind. Also, the light lifts the helmet from the backdrop.

Great shot, Mike! Have you had a look at www.strobist.com ? Exactly your philosophy, great photos with few equipment.

Hey Mike- great photo very edgy. I am assuming the reflections in the helmet + goggles are the reflectors you spoke of when you described your setup?

I do have a question though about your images in general. Do you use a particular action or technique to get the super crisp, low-color, brownish/blueish tinge on most or all of your WA entries? I'd like to know the secret PS recipie. I am certain I could make a photo out of the camera just as good, but post processing is where you shine.

Fantastic shot, Mike! (So what else is new ) I love the smoke and the right light at the back ddoesn't bother me a bit. The whole thing is great! You and I both use really minimal lighting stuff to get what we get. Most of my photos are shot in natural light in one way or another. I've got a 580 flash and that's it for pro lighting gear - the rest is improvised. So, it appears we meet on the field of battle pretty well matched (I got a kick our of your comment about trying to beat me. - I feel the same way about your wonderful shots. )

All best wishes,

Endre
