I was expecting an important difference as the Hassy has roughly 3.25 times the number of pixels but I would never have imagined such a difference in resolution and details. Very impressive. Lookes like comparing 35 mm slide with 8x10 velvia.
I am wondering if doing a mosaic of let's say 6 or 8 D2X images (accounting for overlap) you would get the same level of details.
I know by myself that the photographer makes the Image, but if i had the oppinion to make this picture with that hassy i would certainly take it, just think of a man-sized poster so crisp and nice!
*dream*.....
One question, how big is the file size? I mean, yes, it is amazingly sharp ... but what would it be like working with that image in Photoshop and creating additional layers?
Roman - I'm sure this is hurting you more than us as we haven't had the pleasure to actually pick one of these gems up. They are just a bit outside of my budget unless I stop feeding the dog. Let's see that's $20 a month x 1,250 months = My New Hassy. Roman, If I win the lotto I will buy you one with a few lenses to boot.

Sorry...but the 35MM brand dslr's also dont have the DR of the medium format equipment...nor the bit depth.
That begs the question... will they? Or can they even? As technology progresses it's not unreasonable at all to think the 40D and 5D's great great grandsons could have in the neighborhood of 39MP or more, and increased bit depth, 24, even 32bit someday... but at what point will Nikon and Canon DSLR bodies start to out resolve the lenses, causing bit depth and MP advancements in the bodies to become moot?

The 1Ds2 already out-resolves most Canon glass. For max resolution, you need exotic lenses. Bit depth is a bit more complex problem. There is still room for improvement, witness the 1D3.
So is it just a matter of Canon getting around to making MkII's of all their glass to catch up with the increasing resolution, or is exotic glass and adapter rings the only solution currently on the horizon for DSLR (non MF) users?
