I bought Delkins through Global Memory Products on Ebay. Excellent price ($29.95), and the batteries fit both the camera and the charger extremely well. They are also higher capacity than the Canon brand.
I called Delkin to ask if Global Memory is an authorized reseller of their products, and they are.
Black Diamond. $26 I think. Just go buy them! There have been threads after threads on this topic, and you will hear the same thing over and over. If anyone has any complaints about them, its only because they didn't follow the directions!
1.) When you first get a new battery, put it in the camera, turn it on, turn it off, remove battery.
2.) If you want to really do it right, follow step 1, and then charge, discharge, charge, discharge, and charge a third time. No your battery is conditioned and ready to go.
You of course only do this when it is brand new, not every time you charge it. That discharge button is there for a reason though.
From Luminous Landscape.....................The charger also acts as a discharger. This is also a smart design addition because Nickel Metal Hydride batteries, like Ni-Cads, suffer from the memory effect — though not as badly. This can mean that unless such a battery is regularly run dry it will retain a memory of the level at which it was recharged. Recharge at NI-MIH or Ni-Cad battery when it's only partially discharged on a regular basis and the battery will eventually forget how to recharge fully. But by pressing a discharge button on the 1D's charger the battery will be slowly drained and then automatically recharged. Draining a full battery takes 8.5 hours and a full charge takes 100 minutes. It probably isn't vital to do the discharge cycle all that often — maybe once a month.
Wolf Camera has the Lenmar NP-E3's on sale for 35.49 they are regularly 69.99. They got good reviews so I ordered two this morning. I'll report back on how well they do.

You don't know what you are talking about
Most complaints are that you can't charge them because the connection is loose or don't work.
I have bought a lot of them and follow the instructions (which don't really matters because if theh work they will work anyway) And about 30% was useless because I couldn't charge them. 30% works good and are very nice. the other 40% works but they are difficult to charge because of the loose connection or problems with fitting.
I've had a couple of Black Diamonds..One's a dud, so I have to return it. A pro told me about the battery offered by AtBatt.com. I ordered a couple of them.. The fit and build seems better than the Black Diamond.
A big difference between the Amstron battery offered by AtBatt and the Black Diamond is that the Amstron is 1650mHa compared to the 2200mHa of the Black Diamond.
The Amstron seems to be the closest "clone" of the Canon NP-E3 battery.
Here's the link..The battery is priced at $29.65..
If I don't know what I am talking about, then am I in denial about my experience and just flat out lying?

Because you wrote this,
""If anyone has any complaints about them, its only because they didn't follow the directions""
And that comment is of course not the truth
I and at least 20 other people here at FM have got batteries that didn't work. And we did follow the directions. So yes, you are flat out lying if you say that we didn't follow the directions
And I bought many because I order them from Sweden. You can't order one battery and pay a lot more for the shipping than the battery. I don't belive anybody just order one if they liked it shipped to Europe.
Have bought several, very cheap and they work fine.
Maybe it's just the language difference Lars, but you do have a tendency to come off as a know-it-all, in case you didn't know already (I choose not to use a smiley here to soften the phrase)

It's funny when people I never meet or talked to, tell me I didn't follow the directions and because of that my batteries didn't work. I know that I followed the directions and many others have got bad BD batteries also.
I could tell you the same when it comes to 5D threads here
I've got 3 of the black diamond batteries, and I've had them for a week. 2 of them work absolutely perfect, and the third has a bit of a problem being recognized by the camera. It's intermitent. As for charging the batteries, none of them have that problem people say about not being detected or charged.
I basically put them into the camera as soon as I got them, took about 50 pics until it was drained, THEN charged the battery, drained it completely, and then a full charge again.
Alright......my apologies to everyone, especially Larse "The Almighty King!" for blatently lying as he said. I must now confess my true identity...........I am known throughtout the world as...................
I bought 3 Black Diamond batteries last year. Two of them didn't work because the loose connection where I connect them to the charger. I couldn't charge them after my first use. One worked but had a very bad fitting in my camera. And I followed the instructions from Mydigitaldiscount when I got them.
A friend of mine bought 4 at the same time. Two worked and two where useless.
We also sent about 10 mail's to Mydigitaldiscount but never got any reply
Hmmmm, I have had one dud out of 12 batteries. I called them, they answered and told me to return it. My CC was credited before they even received the battery. Go figure.
I must warn you though Lasse that I am a bit of a compulsive liar, so take his with a grain of salt.
Do any of the aftermarket batteries have adequate weather sealing yet, or do you still have to cobble on the outside end of a dead genuine Canon battery (which I do not have) in order to get proper sealing?
The Delkin has a visible water seal and my two batteries fit very snugly. As to whether it is as robust as Canon's I'm not quite sure (and don't think I want to put it to a stringent test!). The only drawback, which is very minor to me personally, is that it does not use a double locking system a la the "safety button". Matter of fact, the Delkin paperwork says it's a single lock out of respect for Canon's intellectual design property for this safety lock (they're either really good corporate citizens, or else couldn't figure out how to duplicate it I guess).
I'm really happy with this brand so far. Art Morris and others have touted the Delkins so I figured they're worth a try. Normally I avoid eBay like the plague, but Delkin confirmed with me that Global Memory Products (which only sells through eBay) is an authorized dealer. I think these sell for around $60 elsewhere, so $29.99 was a great deal in my book.
