p.1 #1 · Great Sand Dunes National Park

On Sunday, I visited the Great Sand Dunes National Park. I took many photos of the dunes, some Sandhill Cranes, and the frozen Zapata Falls but only had time to edit one image so far ..

Spectacular scenery, the deer lead the way to the dunes..
Nice, bet there are no footprints like at Death Valley either..

Excellent - the image has confirmed my intention to visit this area in the summer while touring Colorado.

This is very nice, flattering light and the deer make a great lead-in.

Hi Lars,

I like the layers you captured here, but to me it is the deer that really make this shot. Well done on capturing them and how you placed them in the scene.

Having the deer in the shot definitely makes the scene, but this picture does nothing to stand out, in my opinion. Its too flat, too uniform. You're pulling out too much detail from the dark areas of the image and it detracts from the overall scene as a whole. If I were you, I would try to draw the viewer's attention to the deer first, and use them to establish the depth and flow of the image.

Nice shot! The deer in the foreground really give scale to this scene. An amazing vista. Look forward to seeing more of your shots.
