Here's another walking around picture, this one with the 28/2.0, probably at about f8. This jpeg looks OK on one of my monitors but a bit dark on my laptop.
(BTW, these aren't meant to be anything special, just a little exercise for the M8.)
I am interested to see how the DMR users feel about the comparison with the M8 files in their own hands. A bit difficult to really compare with just jpegs to look at, I think.
I've read about some of the M8 issues, banding/fringing/etc, and I must say that I'm concerned. However, most of what I shoot does not seem to be the kind of conditions that are eliciting these artifacts. I'm certainly very happy with what I'm getting so far.
My first impression of the M8 is that it's a wonderful camera capable of producing outstanding images, but that it will take hard work to get the most out of it for those, like me, coming from the SLR arena. The above shot was taken with the 75 2.0 at f/16, not exactly wide open but I was piggybacking onto someone else's session. I found the eyepiece magnifier to be very helpful.
You will have to ask the models to shave before shooting them with that sharp of a lens. What color was the backdrop?
Rob,
She did shave, that was 5 o'clock shadow The backdrop was black but doesn't appear so in the image. I set WB to 5200 Kelvin for these, used the new Profoto 7a strobes, shot in RAW, converted in Capture One with the M8 profile straight to Srgb profile, resized in PS and posted. Just double checked my sharpening in Capture One which I thought had been turned off, but it was still set to Standard, 40,0 from my last batch.
This is a crop of a shot taken with my MF kit, Contax 645/Aptus 75, Hassy 110 Planar FE 2.0, stopped down to f/16, ISO 100, converted in Raw Developer. Not a very good comparison shot but thought it might be of interest to some.

Oh, my.... available in black and chrome. Their allocation must be really high that they could fill the pre-orders in the first batch or the pre-orders low, one way or the other.....
