p.1 #1 · Cleaning lenses, coatd filters!!

So I have been struggling to clean my multicoated hoya filters - lenspen was unsatisfying (and seemed kind of dangerous) - I just tried a pecpad and eclipse and WOW. Instant, spotless. Went through and did all my filters - really amazing stuff - lint free, streak free. Beautiful. Well worth the money.

rubbing some chamois like thing on a lens to 'polish' it seemed a recipe for catching a microscopipc bit of dirt and grinding it into the glass. What I need to do was remove dust and fingerprints (kids, ya know?) and a soft, lint free towelette and a fast drying solvent just seems much safer - I hardly touched the surface. The brush on the lenspen is still useful though.

I use the lenspen for cleaning my glasses. But I know those HOYA filters are hard to clean. That's was one of the reason of moving to B+W filters when I want to use filters... B+W are a little easier to clean...

I typically use a microfiber cloth on lenses and filters. I haven't had any problems yet, but I also make sure that it's only dust and the occassional water spot. Once we were at the beach and there was a lot of blowing sand. That cleaning made me pretty paranoid. I used a rocket blower first and then my microfiber and had no problems.

Do you guys think I have just been lucky so far?
