p.1 #1 · Show Focus Area in Capture--Soft Pics Q.

OK--I'm wondering why some of my pics from yesterday's BB game came out soft. I tried checking with Capture's "Show Focus Area" feature and it shows on some pics but not others. Anyone know why this is happening?

Also, would a lack of contrast cause AF NOT to keep up with a subject? Yesterday my daughter's team had to turn their jersey's inside-out and the inside color was white. Would this be a reason for lack of AF locking? If so, I may have to have a talk with her coach!

Bill

if you are in AF-S I think it Will show focus area, but not in AF-C? One or the other I cannot remember right now

and yes , a white uniform can be as troublesome as a black one asfar as contrast and edge detection goes

I don't know John. I'm looking at two images that have almost exactly the same shooting data--only difference is orientation of pictures and shutter speed/aperture. One shows the focus area and the other doesn't. AF-C, btw.

Oh--I want to thank you for the PS Curves suggestions. Those hellish red tinted pics I sent you I got them fixed and they printed nicely. I even learned how to save my curve settings and use them on other pics

Sometimes the focus area shows with AF-C, and sometimes it doesn't for me also. I think it's because when in AF-C mode, the camera can fire even if not in focus, since the default setting for AF-C is "shutter priority". Just a guess!

I have my AFC set to fire when focus priority.
Find it works a treat!
Cheers,
Jasin.
