I found a 135mm f2.8 lens for sale on Ebay and was wondering if it can be used on my D2H. It appears to be a manual focus lens and according to Bjorn's site it is non-AI. I guess that means it is unusable, although he tested it on a D1X? He did mention it could be chipped and maybe that's how he tested it. All you lens experts can probably tell me what this is faster then I can get an answer from the seller. Thanks for your help.
Theoretically you should be able to use any Nikon F mount lens on any newer model Nikon camera with some limitations in metering. If the vendor is mentioning anything about the lens not working, why take the risk of buying it? Nikon usually produces a bunch of every lens model they make, so if you're heart is set on that particular focal length why not wait until a more reliable specimen comes along?
Very hard to tell - but it looks an AI with built-in sliding hood from that angle. They made both AI and AIS versions in f2.8. If not, both the AI and AIS can be purchased from KEH at very reasonable prices.
I own the AIS version and it's superb optically. Still going strong since I bought it new waaaaaaay back when If you have not used a lot of manual focus Nikkors, you will be surprised at the smooth, long-throw focus handling.
