p.1 #1 · A litlle help on f/2.8 lens

Hi,

I would like to know your opinion

I looked for Nikkor 17-55 f 2.8 and 17-25 f 2.8 but in our state are to expencive, so I looked for other lens brand like Sigma and Tokina. And now I'm asking witch lens from Sigma or Tokina has good performance on the Nikon d70s. The lens must be at 20-70 f2.8 field. I read a lot of reviews but most of them consider a Canon mount not Nikon.

So can you pleas tell me witch of those lens are good for Nikon
Sigma
24-60mm F2.8 EX DG
24-70mm F2.8 EX DG
28-70mm F2.8 EX DG

Tokina
AT-X 287 AF PRO SVl 28-70 f/2.8
AT-X280 AF PRO AF 28-80 f/2.8

Thanks a lot, Best regards Alexss

The Tamron 28-75 2.8 is your best bet for a cheaper zoom in that range. It has image quality that rivals the Canon and Nikon versions.

I have the AT-X280 AF PRO AF 28-80 f/2.8 in Canon format (1.3 factor). It matches my 24-70 in the centre, however corners and CA are different story. The Canon wins hands down. Having said that on a Nikon (due to 1.5 factor) this lens performs much better, almost as good as the Nikkor 28-70 F2.8 AFS. Its build quality is excellent, again almost as good as Csnon's and Nikkor's.

I agree with Michael. I think the Tamron is cheaper and is optically sound.

Hi;
Forget the Tokina. As Michael says : ' The Tamron 28-75 2.8 is your best bet for a cheaper zoom in that range. It has image quality that rivals the Canon and Nikon versions.'
I have a Tamron 28-75mm F2.8 .It is a good lens(Also good price/performance ratio)
A little distorsion around 28-35mm&and it is not the 'best' lens choice for fast objects (Such as very fast race car etc) Other than that it is very good.

Hello:

I just received the Nikkor 35-70 2.8 last night. Ordered it from B&H and it has a $200 rebate from Nikon through the 15th of this month.

That brings it down to roughly $466, including shipping.

I ran this lens through my lens test target that I have been running all of my lenses through and it blew them all away, at all apertures.

I'll also let you know that I bought and returned the Nikkor 24-85 AF-S lens last week. I was really disappointed in it's performance at the wide end.

I went out and purchased a Nikkor 24mm 2.8 prime and with this 35-70 I am very pleased. I already had a 20mm and 28mm prime to cover the whole range.

I just can't say enough good things about the 35-70 Nikkor and with the rebate it can't be beat. IMO

Regards,

Gary Eaves

Hi:

I am very informed with tamron, becaus I have some old lenses back to analog time.

But the only problem on the Tamron si that they aren't bild so strong. I have a very bad experiances with plastic on Tamron lens.

So I more looking for Sigma or Tokina, becaus I already have Sigma 70-200 Ex Hsm Dg witch are very good lens.

Thanks Alexss
