Real quick question
I shoot surf photography, and just switched to Canon from Nikon
I have the 20d and im interested in both the 300mm f/4 and the 70-200mm f/2.8
I would like to use the 1.4x teleconverter on both lenses. any input on which lens would give me what im truly looking for which is really quality images, would I be ok with a 70-200mm f2.8 and just cropping a bit, or should i go with the 300mm and have the ability to switch between 300 bare and 300 with the 1.4x?
my first post on here, heres some pics I've taken in the past with the Nikon d70 and a tamron 70-300mm f4-5.6
The ability to zoom is nice but my guess is that you are going to find the 70-200 too short. It is OK with the 1.4x on but if most of your stuff is going to be shot in the 300mm range the 300 will clobber it in terms of IQ.
thanks guys...i want something to cover the 70-200 anyway so maybe ill just get both!
j/k..or am i? only my $$$$ situation will tell.
thanks for the input, really appreciated
Ditto what was said about even 300 being on the short side for surfing.. In fact, I find the 70-200 on the short side for most outdoor sports that I've shot. The 300 is a beautiful lens and takes the TC better than the zoom
