Is there a way to have my name appear in the exif data for my images?
Are you able to do this from the camera settings (preferred)?

I'd rather keep my current workflow (ACR, CS2) rather than use a different app to get this info in there so if it's possible via camera settings that'd be great.

Phast1:

Following is information for my Canon 20D. I am guessing that there is a similar method for your camera that is shown in the manual for your EOS Digital Software that was supplied with your camera.

_____________

There is a way to get your name to appear in the exif data for all of your images. Unfortunately you cannot enter this directly into your camera, you need to connect the camera to your computer and change it via this route.

I think there is another way of doing this, but the method I use uses the Canon software "EOS Utility Viewer." The following instructions are on pages W-50 and W-51 of my "EOS Digital Software" instruction manual CT1-1271-001, 0202Ni36.0 - dated 2004:

1. Connect the camera to the computer.

2. Start up the EOS Viewer Utility (program).

3. Select the "Options" menu, "Camera Settings." [Camera Settings will be non-active unless a camera is actually connected].

4. Enter the name you want into the "Owner's Name" box. This can be up to 31 characters long. I put my name and cell phone number in here. If I loose the camera and the person is extremely kind and looks here - I may get my camera back!

5. Click the “OK” button.

Thanks for the info Jim. My 'eos viewer utility' must've got corrupted somehow when I upgraded it (instead of fresh install) because by the method you describe it just freezes at that point. It's probably still looking for the 20D.

Thanks again,

You can also do it in DPP. The name is stored in the camera, so after you do it once in DPP you can go back to your normal workflow.

Phast`,

Here is a reply from another Jim from Cinicnnati. All of the functions of EOS viewer are now incorporated into Zoombrowser (5.5). Just load ZB, connect the MkIIN, press Aquire Camera and Settings then you will be able to enter your name into the camera and set PF's as well. Works on my MkII.

You can actually do it either way, via the Canon software or via CS2, which has an automated means of doing so.
