p.1 #1 · One GREEN RAW file ???

I have a friend that shoots with a 20D. He has recently begun to shoot in RAW with a Lexar 1 gig CF card and ran into a strange issue.

He shot around 60 images and when he downloaded them only ONE somewhere in the middle of the shoot had a total "Green" hue when printed. All the rest look and print fine. It shows correctly on his CRT ( no green ) but at Costco it shows Brown and prints with a greenish brown tint overall.

He tried converting to JPG ... no difference. I have not seen these, but Larry at the photostore did and he said it was GREEN

Could this just be bad data on the CF card? I asked if he had ever hard formated the CF card on his computer instead of just in the camera and he had not. I know that a hard format could isolate a bad sector ... is this the possible problem here?

Thanks for any ideas.

I've had a similar issue. The images look fine in-camera but once they're transferred over, there's a green vertical streak taking up one side of the image. On one card, there will usually be about 3 photos like that so it always happens with multiple images at a time, but doesn't happen very often at all. Recopying the images fails to help either. hmmm

Ariel, how many actuations has your 20D accumulated ( just curious ).

I asked my friend if he had installed all the firmware upgrades and he had. I know there was a Lexar/Canon compatibility issue a while back. I wonder is this has anything to do with the problem...

Oh, to be sure that I told him the correct way to format... he should use FAT ( NOT FAT32 ) for a 1 gig card.... correct

that makes no difference. it only changes sector sizes the format is still the same.

just format in camera.

Terry, its seems that your friends 20D is a dud.
My suggestion is that he gets rid of it straight away....if you like, just get him to send it to me, I can pay for the postage if he likes....that should fix his problem....then tell him to go out and buy either a D2x or a mkIIN....lol

I've put about 62,000 clicks on my shutter (+/- a few thousand) since January of this year.
