p.1 #1 · Nikon Capture & Micro lens

I just bought my D2X today and was wondering about the Nikon Capture software. I have Photoshop CS2, so will the Nikon Capture program do anything for me? Do I need it to connect to the camera and change settings from the PC? I had a Canon 1D2 / 16-35 2.8L / 24-70 2.8L / 70-200 2.8L IS / 180 3.5L Macro--sold it all and bought a D2X / 12-24 DX / 17-55 DX to start with. I'm eyeing the AF-S 70-200 2.8 VR next. I shot film with Nikon years ago, then switched over to Canon a few years ago when I started with digital. Canon's got good stuff, but it feels good to be home again. The D2X seems like an incredible machine and I can't wait to start using it. Any recommendations on the best macro lens in Nikon's lineup. I've read that the 85mm PC Micro Nikkor is incredible on the D2X, but what is best for a 1:1 ratio? Thanks.

best macro is a can 'o worms. I really like the 60mm nikkor but it really is too short for so many things. The tamron 90 or 180 are IMO all things considered the sharpest lenses I have ever used for macro work. I love my 180 but I hate the stupid tripod collar for the thing

Now as for raw editors , that is another can o worms. Their is no right answer, when speed is my only concern I will use CS2 , when total image quality is concerned I always use Nikon Capture

Thanks, John. You answered my question when you mentioned 'total image quality'. That is my main concern.
