p.1 #2 · Need Help using ACR & D2X Raw Files | |
Its really too much of a question to answer because there is so much that I do, and do differently, depending on what I am shooting...
For the most part I have absolutely ditched the auto settings because I think they suck, and I switched to a linear curve for a while but then back to the standard 'medium contrast' curve...
White balance is really a taste thing, I find, and I like a lot of images a bit warmer than other people, so I tend to adjust each image to where I like it rather than where I shot it... Although when I am doing something that involves a lot of images, I try and preset the white balance to get it right at the start...
I use the batch processing commands a lot, where you can adjust one image, select a bunch and then apply the previous conversion to them as well, which helps save a lot of time.
I have played with the noise reduction a bit, but honestly, I havent shot too much real high ISO stuff lately so it hasnt been too much of a thought... the camera is pretty good as it is, although I found the highest setting for in camera noise reduction way too strong.
The batch commands kind of leaves me not having to name particular settings, and I dont have any saved for future use... I think its best to group the images by exposure and then fix the first, batch the rest and then fine tune anything that isnt great.... for portraits and the high end stuff, thats the basic proofing setup... everything thereafter is redone totally from scratch by hand and processed extensively afterwards...
