I just thought I would share some of my good news with you guys.
Well, after being introduced to the New Jersey Photographers' Forum a couple months ago, I learned of their annual Juried Show. I have only been learning photography (through trial and error, and from you guys) for the last eight months, but I decided, why not give it a shot.
Out of over 160 photos submitted, mine was one of about 35 to be selected for exhibition in their show. The show lasts the month of November at the Watchung Arts Center, and then in January they got to the Children's Hospital in Mountainside.
I was just really excited and you guys have been a huge help to me in learning this fantastic skill, so thank you all for helping me to get to this point.
p.s. This was just a quick conversion, a lot of detail was lost in the resize, and I accidentally boosted the exposure in this shot in PP, but not in the real version, and definitely not in the print.
Thanks David. That was just the existing light in the stable. The toughest thing about this shot was trying to get the horse to stand still for the 1/20th of a second or so for the exposure. I must have taken this shot 5 or 6 times ond this was the only one that the horse was still enough for me to use the shot.
Great to hear it friend!!!
...btw you may remember me complaining about composition in this photo some time ago.... you see: great is what people see great!!!
Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for all the responses guys! I certainly do have a bit more motivation now, to go out and continue trying to do this.
Glowrider,
I know exactly what you are talking about, but fortunately that isn't the case with this show. This show is hosted by one of the most well respected photography organizations in the state of New Jersey. In fact one of the things that is great about this show is that you are sked to put a sale price on the photo so that it may be sold during the gallerey showing. The forum gets a cut of the money, but it is a reasonable cut. I have already decided not to enter two more shows because entering means giving away rights to your work. Thanks for the word of caution though.
Thanks again everybody, it really is because of your constructive criticism and encouragement that I have been able to do this.
