Came across this tranquil scene today...The term "Vacant" kept crossing my mind as did tranquil.

Comments, suggestions?

Why are you posting this here? Not enough publicity in the Landscape Forum?!?!
Seriously though, nice compo but I think you'd have been better with a blended exposure. You have blown highlights in the sky and the chair, and you could probably get some more light into those deep shadows. I'd also clone out that twig in the fg

Wrong time of day, too.

I like it. I like the composition, I like the mood. I also like how the owner, before leaving, tied the chair to the dock so it can't jump in the water while away.

What is a blended exposure & how do I do it?
As I came across this scene, I realized I should probably shoot it with a neutral graduated density filter but I didn't have it with me.
What could I have done without a filter to accomplish better results?

As far as the "blown highlights"...I realize that a NGD filter would have helped the sky. But the chair is shown in photo exactly as I saw it in the scene since the sun was hitting it directly. Isn't that alright to leave that as "blown" since that's the way it really was?

Hmmm...never having been here before, what would be the "right" time of day?

Thanks Bert!
I also like the overall feeling of this scene and am glad I could (mostly) capture it.
Yeah, the string had me puzzled too!
