p.1 #1 · D70 over exposing images.

My D70 is overexposing images in bright daylight, has anyone had this problem and if so did cleaning the contacts on the camera help? I just starting thinking what could be wrong. Camera not here to verify, but I have a feeling that maybe it is not closing the apeture on the lens. Guessing of course, but would like to hear from anyone who may have tried this or had a similiar problem.

Wow, I haven't had that problem... my D70 has the tendency under expose rather than over expose.

Cheers,
Ken

Check your depth of field lever but i'm sure it's not that..
Sometimes i have found my EV going from 0 to minus or plus for no reason at all.. But thats on the D100

Dont want to be an alarmist here...but did you buy the D70 between March-Sept of 2004? If so, the unexplained overexposure is a known precursor to the blinking green light of death that afflicts the D70. I believe you can get it fixed for free even if your camera is out of warranty since its a known problem.

Hopefully its just a temporary glitch and not the BGLOD!!

It could also be a sticky aperture on one of your lenses. Make sure that is not the cause. Try some other lenses.

Or try turning down your exposure compensation. I usually find myself setting to -3 or -7 on really bright days to avoid blown highlights.
