Just curious about the Sigma 10-20mm, it looks pretty sweet... I mean seriously, on my D70 I'd be able to get 15-30mm shots, crazy wide compaired to my 18-70's litmiting 27mm at the widest with that 1.5x crop factor.
Hi,
I purchased Sigma 10-20 recently; and although I have not used it much I have given it a testing and it seems to be a keeper. Build quality is High as you would expect with an EX lens, colour, contrast, sharpness and fast HSM focusing are all great.
I can see me using it for dramatic landscape work over the winter. One word of advice, this lens is w-i-d-e, the first test shots taken with it had my feet in!
Would recommend this lens.. Yes.
I like the lens, but it seems to meter differently than my nikons. That took a little getting used to. I'm still testing it as I have the 12-24. So far I like it, but because it meters differently it may not last.
That's a hard one. I can't say that either is good or bad. I believe that the Nikon 12-24 is sharper, but I also love how wide the 10-20 is! You can really get into trouble in a good way with something that wide. The metering is an issue only because I don't have this problem with any other lens. I always seems to have to underexpose for the scene. Not to large of a problem as I don't have to work that quickly for what I like to take. 20 does seem a little short especially when my next lens begins at 24. It is far cheaper than the 12-24 so if funds are a problem you really can't go wrong in my mind.
I don't know if I've helped, but these are my feelings so far. I'm going to keep using it and see if a favorite comes to the top.
i'm really inexperienced with wide-angle photography, and it really takes some getting used to. although i took some live music shots this weekend, and understandibly, it was not taken off my camera body. in fact i haven't taken it off the body for at least a week.
