I'm going to seriously hulksmash the next person that whines about focusing issues on their lenses. Here's a universal tip on how to avoid "bad copies": READ THE MANUAL.
During my off-time I work as a part-time sales person and every week I get at least one "why can't i just leave the camera on 11pt dynamic AF all the time and get sharpness in all situations" person. My favorites are the ones that come in and tell me AF stopped working, and then I reach my hand out to the front of their camera and flip the switch from M to AF on their D2X's and 1Ds Mk2's.
Ooh ooh! AF stopped working on my D2H off and on today while I was shooting. And my switch hadn't mysteriously switched to M. Actually, I'm not sure what happened. Seemed like if I turned it off and back on it'd start working again, though. Couldn't get it to work no matter what I did. Then it'd start working again. Happened several times. So there are legitimate times this happens.

I agree there is a lot of whining on these boards...just like your own post in fact.
But lenses do go wrong as do cameras and some of the whiners are correct - they do have AF issues.
So just don't read those posts and stop your whining
My favorite is trying to explain to sales people with little technical experience that I feel I have a problem. I used to be an electronics tech and very good at troubleshooting. I am also aware of many times that it can just be an overlook on my part.
My experience with my last sales person is that I showed him some samples of a focus problem with my D1X and all he could say is that the image wasn't bad and try raising the F-stop. Come on. I had the dynamic focus off and was focusing on the eye and the necklace came in focus 3 out of 3 times. The camera is back where I bought it. I just hope that they give it to a tech before they say take a test shot with the f-stop at 32 and say it is a sharp image. I was using my good lenses that focus fine on my D70 and F100 and D1.
So, I guess it can go both ways. I just want my camera back in good working, sharp focusing condition. I almost let the 60day warranty run out trying to make sure it wasn't me.
The worst though is when people whine about ............whining...................Damn!!...............now i'm whining about whining about whining. Seriously tho.............you make some good images, keep doing that, why stress over other peoples problems? Ignore the whining about focusing issues, this is something you can't control, so why bother?
