p.1 #1 · 17-55- 50 1.8?


Does anyone have any comments as to if the 17-55 is as sharp as the 50 1.8? I am very soon to be a Nikon shooter:-) after shooting Canon for over 20 years. Your comments are appreciated.

i have both lenses and both of them are very sharp. 17-55 is sharp and good for wedding.

50mm on other hand is 1.8 and is sharp too. i use for portraits.

I think the 17-55 is just as sharp and I find the contrast better because of the ED elements.

I've got both as well , both will cut you with the right technique , the 50mm is half the size and a quarter of the weight of the 17-55 , but you lose the versatility of the zoom , and it's only £140 compaired to £1000 over here .
