B&H is off for Rosh Hashanah, my local pro shop won't budge off of MSRP, and for some reason Adorama currently makes me nervous even though I've purchased stuff as well as rented from them while in NYC before.

Do Cameta ebay auctions make anyone nervous? D2X is $4,449 and they seem to be an authorized Nikon dealer with no grey market. I also doubt the box will have any missing parts, like the battery!

How about Calumet (nice folks last time I was in their NY store) and 17th St. Photo?

Ted, I've bought from Cameta with no problems (my F5) and it wasn't grey market. I think the only real problem with them is if you're out of the US, they don't offer anything but USPS. In the states however, no problem.

Oh man, with all of this good advice and great moral support I guess I no longer have any reason to procrastinate.

It's just a hump you have to get over. You're almost there

you can call cameta, berger brothers or roberts and haggle a bit... I'd bet you get your price from all three.

I bought my D2Hs from Cameta. I didn't want to deal with the auction, so I called them and ordered by phone. Everything went smooth.

Just ordered from Cameta for a $500 savings compared to my local pro shop. I really prefer to buy local when I can, but the cost difference on this purchase buys me another SB-800 and a 2GB flash card. The camera will arrive on Wednesday and I'll break it in next Saturday to shoot a bike race.

Now I can spend the rest of the weekend preparing ebay auctions to help pay for it. Everything that is not bolted down just might have to go. I wonder what I can get for the fruitcake I recieved from my cousin two Christmas' ago.
