Gee that's a good price, will be getting mine tom at USD3,435 here in Hong Kong. Maybe I should skip it and wait for a little while, the local Canon agent is just terrible...

I noticed that Canon has got rid of those stupid "dumb" Modes on the dial, Its about time!

That LCD screen looks nice too, Wonder how it performs in bright lighting conditions.

Looks like a really nice well built camera, Nice size too.

What I've heard, bright light performance of this LCD is not very good. Too bad. It could also have had combined RGB histogram, not separate. And at the same time make it live.

First touch to the joystick button felt it was a toy. Why not make it a bit bigger and more rugged. Also the sync port is under rubber cover that's quite thight. It almost needs a tool to open it. Couldn't they be made out any other way.

Command dial on the top left could have more options, like more Custom options. Now it's half empty. Rotating dial feels however a bit more plesent. If it's true that one can set mirror lockup on C mode that's great. Finally easy way to access it.

Battery door feels better than in 10D. 10D used to broke my nail if I wasn't carefull with it. Now there's no more fear of that. CF slot feels like the same.

Power on/off swich feels ok too. First feared one could easily turn camera off by mistake when intention was only to lock rear dial.

These are my initial impressions. More when I get chance to shoot with it.

Congratulations Arhi! I played with a 5D today in Sydney at a trade show. Slippped my CF card in and took some images too, but will not post them until they are available locally (I *could* have mine next week if all goes to plan!

).

The camera is a pleasure to use! Mirror slap is not excessive as someone reported previously - the camera feels like a grown-up 10D in that regard. The shutter noise is low compared to the 20D, and the mirror slap seems less noticeable as well.

Shutter is rated at 100,000 actuations, folks! More when I get my hands on my own little 5D soon...

The shutter is more like the 10D shutter, but the camera feel is somewhere between the 10D and the 1D, closer to the 1D in feel. The menus are just like the 10D. I rather like that!

The LCD is HUGE, and I feel I won't be reaching for the 10D much after the 5D arrives. Might want to start looking for a new home for it...
