Greg Matty Offline Image Upload: Off p.1 #1 · Alien Bees w/D2 and HSA or flash sync If anyone here uses Alien Bees with the D2X, do you connect via the hot shoe adapter or the flash sync port? Canon was quick to point out that their PC terminal required very low voltage. My D2X manual says nothing about voltage requirements for either the flash sync termial or hot shoe. pontmercy Offline Buy and Sell: On p.1 #3 · Alien Bees w/D2 and HSA or flash sync also, the nikon support site says this: "Warning: Negative voltages or voltages over 250 V applied to the camera's sync terminal could not only prevent normal operation, but may damage the sync circuit of the camera or flash. PhotoTeacher Offline Image Upload: Off p.1 #5 · Alien Bees w/D2 and HSA or flash sync If you ever want to try other strobes, and are not sure of their synch voltage, you can get a "safe synch" from Wein, which will drop any synch voltage down to 6 v. They have a few different configurations available; hot shoe, pc, household. Lumedyne also makes a filter that does the same thing, but theirs uses household connectors.
