so i got a weird one.
Reformating is supposed to also delete all pictures? i answer yes

so back from africa i am finally ready to clear my cards, my cheap viking erased clean, but my ultra II's dont, any idea?

How are you formatting , camera or computer?
Never had a problem formatting in any camera i've owned and i've several Sandisk 2's and a Ultra 3 as well.
Are you saying that after formating all the images are still viewable from the card?

I never tried but isn't there a kind of protection mechanism on the camera if you have protected pictures to avoid accidental erasure...
