I seriously doubt that this would be possible. Besides, the main purpose of 4/3 is to allow for a smaller camera and lenses. It would defeat that purpose by making a 4/3 camera that was compatible with larger lenses. The larger mount would require a larger camera. Canon may very well produce a 4/3 camera one day. I just don't think it will be EF compatible. Or maybe they will make a more compact SLR that uses only EF-S lenses.

In other words, it will do everything that the Olympus people have been WISHING the E1 would do, plus if they buy the new Canon camera they can keep their lenses and start buying Canon 35mm lenses too.
That should effectively put the other 4/3 camera bodies behind the eight ball before they even come out for sale

I can't imagine what advantage the 4/3 format would give Canon, given the size, price, and performance of the XT.
As a side issue, it seems that while video seems to be reaching for a wider screen aspect ratio, Olympus goes the opposite direction with the 4/3 when compared to the standard 35 mm 3/2 format.

Built in flash is actually a very useful thing to have. Theres been so many times when I havent had a flash in my camera bag that the 20D's flash came in handy.
For example, sometimes after shooting some sporting events, one of the teams athletic communications directors will ask if I would like to take a couple of portrait type shots of a player we migh feature in an article. I may not of brought a speedlight with me that day, just my 20D backup camera, since I wasnt expecting to shoot such shots and I of course cant bring everything I own. 20D built in flash saves the day to fill in under a ball cap or helmet.
As long as it doesnt waste space in the mirror box, flashes dont bother me at all. Better to have something built in you might not need rather that than have a single time when you miss something...Show more →
An external Flashgun takes up bugger-all room though. My Speedlite is ALWAYS in my kit. Built-in flash is such a compromise anyway that even if had it in the camera it would never be used.

Repeat after me - I will stop reading this thread and go take photographs . . .
Not everyone is into photography because they enjoy taking photographs belive it or not. Some see photography as a means to talk on forums such as this about speculation and other "techie" talk. Having debates which require alot of math and engineering knowledge which goes over most peoples head is fun for these type of folks.
Other simply seem to enjoy performing test of lenses and collecting the very best optics possible regard of price. The quest for "the best" if the fun. Trying rare lenses, searching the internet for them and finally getting them is the thrill.
Some people simply love taking pictures and dont care much about their gear at all.
You get all kinds of people on forums like this. Its the same with most anything though. One of my guitar "playing" friends actually enjoys the collecting of guitars more than playing. He cant really play worth a lick actually but owns like 20 guitars. They hang all over his house and many are autographed and very rare. He loves to talk on a guitar forum with others who like talking about pickups, what date code was the best year, how they changed the headstock by .1" in 1982 etc etc
I could tell him to just go and play, but thats really not what he enjoys.
So if some people here like discussing camera's and speculation more than taking photos, more power to them I say. It doesnt hurt me any and I dont have to read threads like this
though as it stands, while I do enjoy actually taking pictures, its intrested to at least take a look at the threads and see what the rumors are and it will be intresting to see how accurate they turned out to be

Still doesnt hurt to have it built in. Extra flash cards dont take up hardly any room in by bag either but I like having that SD slot on the mk II so I can always keep one in there, "just in case"
If my speedlight breaks, if my batteries die, if I just forget it, having a backup flash works well.
Half the time when Im shooting with my 20D I just use the built in flash even if I have my other bodies and speedlights with me. When Im doing post game press conferences or a shot for an interview for example, that little flash fills in just fine under the players hat. I wouldnt do a commerical shot with it but for a quick snap, its so easy to just press a button and be in business.

If this camera is a frog, as I can see on the pictures above, then I am clearly disappointed. Maybe a sign for Pondria to upgrade though.
God listened to My wish to get a new Camera and he made one for me.
I think there's a fair chance any new dSLR from Canon will include some solution for sensor dust. I spoke at length with a Canon person involved with pro products several months ago and they made it clear that a very good solution for sensor dust was in the works and coming soon i.e. just missed out on not being included in the 20D. I think it's something any dSLR manufacturer would want to resolve asap from their own point of view, apart from providing users with a tempting reason to update.
Whatever Canon release you can bet it will leapfrog Nikon in some way - Nikon has a way to go before it's in sync with Canon's product cycle.
gunblue, is it even possible to trademark such a short "name" as 5D? It would seem slightly odd to me. Almost as if you'd start trademarking or patenting single letters or numbers (then again, given some ridiculous rulings on patents recently, it'd hardly be surprising)
Anyway, if there's going to be a camera that looks like that one, ugh, well, it might be good, but it's a bit ugly Then again I'm not upgrading from the 20D any time soon, because I can't afford to - I'll rather spend on lenses that I still don't have, like the 135/2, a macro lens etc. And the 20D has what I need from a body, except more resolution would never hurt, nor would even better noise performance. The body upgrade cartwheel would just be too expensive and pointless for me at this point.
My 20D is good enough for a while, the only reason I see me upgrading is if it has a better viewfinder. The PDF says it has a 96% viewfinder, that doesn't seem like FF, the 20D has 97%. Or am I missing something?
