p.1 #1 · Canon USB cables for shooting tethered

I apologize if this has been covered in another thread. I am looking for a 15ft USB cable that I can use to shoot tethered to my laptop. I've done quite a bit of searching on the net and haven't found any place that sells this length. Can someone give me a link or any information on this.

You're searching for the wrong length. Try these 16 footers from NewEgg.

(oops - this is an extension cable )

This is the standard USB cable.

Bump: Is anyone shooting 10D's tethered? I know that SOMEONE out there has to be shooting tethered.

You asked for a cable, not who all shoot tethered. That could explain the lack of further responses once your question was answered.

(never plugged my cameras to a computer for anything - may have to for some of the Eleventy special features though)

I shoot tethered with both a 10D and a 300D for product shots.
It works great! I like seeing larger files on my 17" laptop screen, easy to read histograms, etc...

A couple of things to consider:
1. if your monitor calibration is wrong, your images may not turn out as you expect.
Always follow your histogram for proper exposure. Get some sort of monitor calibration.

2. There is a tranfer time between the camera and your computer (seems like 5-10 seconds depending on file size-I only shoot at max res). No big deal when I shoot product, but I would never shoot tethered when shooting people.

I use the standard cord from Canon. Short, but it works fine for my set-up. I have been toying with trying an extension just in case I need it, another item for one of my "test" days.
