Each year brings new camera and lens offerings, few of which hold any interest for me, as someone who shoots mostly wildlife. 2017 was a case in point: E.g. 50mm TS-E, 85 1.4, etc. Although the 100-400 update was welcome.
Hopefully 2018 will bring some new goodies from Canon which will actually be useful (to me ): Here's a list:
* 600 f/4 DO.
* 800 f/5.6 DO
* 200-500 zoom
* EF (not EF-S) 24-250 IS, or similar. A true all-purpose full frame travel lens, lighter than the 28-300L.
* Updated 50mm 1.4. Ring USM + IS.
* 1Ds mk iv. 45 mp, 8FPS, all the 1D goodies. and/or:
* 1D mk v. APS-H sensor, 30MP, 10FPS.
Plus, higher dynamic range sensors, with improved ability to recover shadow detail.
All of these, except maybe the sensors, would seem to be very do-able, and I would think the demand would be there. But instead Canon seems to focus on strange, specialized lenses, and on keeping the resolution of the 1D series limited.
Thoughts?
