Hey gang,

I ordered the Pixma Pro 10 from Murphy's on Wednesday and it arrived today!

So, being new to the printing thing, can you point me to a good source for paper for my landscapes.
Also, if there's a thread or website that can guide me along, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks,
Malcolm

Take a look at the Red River Paper site, http://www.redrivercatalog.com/. They have a selection of excellent paper products and a lot of useful information on how to set up printers.

There are thousands of 'what paper' threads in all the various forums.

Hint: While you get your feet wet w/ printing (and yea, it'll take a while), get some run of the mill Canon Semi-Gloss or Lustre paper to run test prints and get experience instead of wasting $$ on fancy paper to do your learning.

Red River Paper has several "sample kits" of papers. Link. Get them. Don't forget to include the specialty paper kit.

At this stage, you should try to figure out how each TYPE of paper (as opposed to brand of paper) works with your printer. Once you figured out the "look" you like, then, IMO, you can move on to deciding which brand is better.

Don't forget to color calibrate your monitor, and to print using the appropriate ICC profile for the paper and printer combination you are using. (Download the ICC profile for each paper from the Red River Paper website.)

+1 for everything Lara said.

Education is very important so you're not just flailing and wasting ink/paper.
Get a book like 'The Digital Print' (Schewe) or the LuminousLandscape video series
