p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Would you find the owl?

Finding the snowy owls on our Long Island beaches is a bit of a challenge. There are hundreds of miles of beaches and only a few of these two to three foot tall white birds. As you can see they blend into the environment and can also sit still for hours. This protects them from predators like eagles and coyotes while enabling them to surprise there pray. To make it even trickier to find them there are other white things on the beach. It's quite frustrating to discover that you have been stalking a white plastic bag.

These photos are of two different owls. Can you tell them apart?

Comments and suggestions welcome,

nice catches, Morris. I am on a snowy owl hunt myself. I have seen 4 so far but managed to get only 1 in a photograph. The rest were too far away.

Wonderful set Morris....a bit of task, finding them.

On a closer observation, one of them might be more matured...having darker shades / bars on it's body... perhaps.

I'm still trying to find one

Now that the snow came it may even be more difficult!

Lucky you to be chasing them on the beach Last one qualifies for the classic 'Nello' if you remember that and him?
Good looks Morris, hope you have him/her around for a while.
