I don't understand this. The camera has been available for weeks. Presumably Sony let Adobe have a copy a lot sooner than that. What's the hold up?

Sometimes Adobe gets backlogged counting up all their cloud subscription money and that slows down the software release process

I've been waiting for over a week now. Adobe really dropped the ball on this one.
Tried the EXIF hack but don't really want to use it for all photos.

When I spoke to them 10 days ago they said it was 'imminent' though wouldn't give an exact date. anyway now that I have finally got the exiftool hack to work it actually only adds a few minutes to the whole import process and I have now gone back to RAW only shooting which is a great relief

Maybe they are working on adding pixelshift support.

If not this will be very disappointing

Prepare for disappointment then!

(though I hope I'm wrong)

Hopefully we'll see it this week, it's annoying but we've seen similar waits for support for the D850 recently.

I wouldn't expect any kind of pixelshift support in Lightroom, don't believe it supports any others (Olympus, Pentax, etc) it's always in third party (pretty poor) software.

I think they support Pentax's pixel shift. Why not Sony?

Well, my A7RIII arrives tomorrow, so that would be a good day for an ACR update to happen

I didn’t know that Fred! Encouraging. I take it back...

Actually before I get excited, are you sure that generates a pixel shifted image from the four components, or just supports the in camera generated Pentax pixel shift file? I can’t seem to easily tell...

I think you're right... It is Adobe.
After the recent disaster with Lightroom cc and classic, I really need to jump the boat. I'm not going to pay subscription.

My subscription ends in just a few months. I'd love to move away from Adobe, but are there other software packages that allow editing on the go? I almost exclusively edit on my iPad while traveling. Being able to sync collections to the "cloud" and edit those smart copies on my iPad Pro is extremely helpful for me (rather than be tied to a desktop or beefy laptop to do edits). I store all of the RAWs on my NAS at home and just sync them via a collection in LR.

I have a hunch they are the only ones offering a service like that

Unless it's changed recently there is no Adobe support for combining the 4 Pixel Shift images from a Pentax K1, but it will read the file that's output (a TIFF I recall)

Hopefully ACR will be updated soon - nothing as of this morning. It can't be that different a conversion relative to the A7RII files.

This delay just makes photographers try new software...Since it works by mimicking A7RII files, Lightroom should have released a quick fix as a bandaid and then take their time updating the profile.

I wonder how many photographers just tried CaptureOne for the first time because it already supports the A7RIII and actually like it better.

Meanwhile, Iridient Developer 3.2.1 was just released and supports A7RIII files including the Pixel Shift mode.

Indeed. I've been on the brink of switching to Capture One for quite a while now and Adobe's tardiness in updating Lightroom and ACR was the catalyst for my finally making the move. After years of using LR it definitely requires an effort but I have the Rocky Nook book and Phase One has tons of webinars and tutorials that ease the transition. Given that there's a basic free version for Sony cameras plus an inexpensive upgrade to the Pro version for Sony, the unpopularity of Adobe's subscription model, and the uncertainty about how long the "Classic" version will be supported, I suspect that lots of photographers will be giving C1 a try.

If you have the free version of c1 for sony and you want to upgrade is it a completely separate install where you have to re-do all your settings and presets?
